In individual therapy we look together at the feelings and thoughts that are obstacles to living your life with more fullness and meaning. The therapeutic relationship becomes a personal, trustworthy place where you can be vulnerable, and make sense of experiences that have been too difficult to bear alone or with others. As we become more aware of feelings about struggles in childhood or our present life, we learn how old wounds and patterns affect our behavior and beliefs about what is possible. We often explore losses and life transitions – separations, deaths, aging, family and friendship changes, and geographic moves. Some people use our work to move through identity crises or to develop their own “voice.” I work with clients on blockages to change or creativity, and they gain an expanded sense of their ability to express themselves in an often difficult world. The individual therapy relationship leads to new ways to feel, be, and act.
